Today I had my (now) weekly appointment with my doctor, which pretty much freaked me out. Despite my eagerness to be a mom and have this little guy, the reality of it all is starting to really set in. Apparently, the baby's head is down, which is good, and I am already 1-2 cm dilated, which is also fine at this point in my pregnancy. However, as per my doctor, it is unlikely I will make it to my due date. No real complaints here. But it also means that I should be ready at any point to have him.
My doctor did tell me that last week and said to have everything ready to go, but there are just a few essentials that we need. I guess I just assumed I would have at least until the end of June. And I may, but after my appointment today, I really think I should be prepared for anything.
I think for both Akira and myself the anxiety is more about not being ready to take time off work. There are still loose ends that we need to tie up and take care of, and if he comes too early, neither of us will feel prepared to leave our jobs. That's probably not the first concern of many new parents...
On a side note, I am glad I had my "big" shower this weekend with family and friends. Got lots of goodies from my registry and heard more pregnancy old wives tales. Apparently, my skin is "glowing" because I am having a boy, but I am carrying small, like I should be having a girl. To the right is the cute baby buggy diaper piece that I got. It's way too cute to take a part and use! The diapers are size 2, so I can enjoy it for a little while longer.
So here I am at 35, going on 36 weeks....
I think I am just good at hiding him or he's good at hiding. Weight gain is fine so far. About 25 pounds. And my back aches just enough to feel those 25 pounds.
Hopefully, I'll have a few more entries before baby boy arrives...
